Color affects people psychologically and is often used to help convey a message in marketing. This human reaction is subliminal and based on many factors. Determining a color scheme for your marketing efforts, emotional response to certain colors should be a consideration and should be consistent with your branding message.
Once a primary color is selected, a fun tool to determine a/an accent color/s can be found at Adobe Color.
If you have selected a primary color, Make note of the hex code (#) or RGB.
If you color is Red for example;
At Adobe Color, enter your HEX #ff0000 or RGB (255, 0, 0) in the center box, and select the different color rules:
- Analogous
- Monochromatic
- Triad
- Complementary
- Compound
- Shades
- Custom (if you are a color wheel rebel)
These Color Rules help you stay on track with hue, saturation, and vibrancy.
Volumes of literature are available on the subject of Color Theory and the Psychology of Color as it pertains to marketing. The only thing that is important for most people to understand is that Color IS IMPORTANT and Color selection should not be arbitrary.
